When you instruct one.

  • Outturn raised more questions than it settled and the cargo needs proper examination.
  • The goods are at the consignee's premises and the damage only became apparent on unpacking.
  • Quantum matters more than liability, and the extent has to be established properly.
  • A destination inspection is required before the goods are accepted or rejected.

What we do.

  • 01Examine the goods themselves. Item by item where the quantity allows, by sampling where it does not — and the sampling basis stated.
  • 02Establish nature and extent. What is wrong, how much of it is wrong, and whether it is repairable or total.
  • 03Test where testing is warranted. Moisture content, contamination, function — with the method and any laboratory named.
  • 04Value the loss. Against sound market value at destination, with the comparison shown.
  • 05Consider mitigation. Whether the goods can be reconditioned, sold at a reduced price, or must be disposed of.

What you receive.

  • A detailed condition and quantum report.
  • A full photographic and documentary record.
  • A sound-value comparison and a depreciation basis.
  • A recommendation on mitigation and salvage, where either applies.

What we need from you

  • The full shipping and commercial file
  • Outturn survey report, where one exists
  • Where the goods are now, and who controls access
  • Sound market values or comparable invoices

What we hold ourselves to

  • 2–24hA surveyor instructed from the network nearest the cargo.
  • 24–48hYour update on the appraisal, with photographs and the key information.
  • 72hThe detailed preliminary report, after the survey assessment.
  • 45 daysExpected turnover per mission. The final report follows the loss mitigation or destruction operation.

Attendance on site depends on distance to the port and on terminal and customs access, so that is confirmed on your file rather than promised as one number for every port on the continent.
