Salvage survey

Assessment and disposal of damaged cargo to protect residual value and mitigate the loss. Service 11 — After the loss.

When you instruct one.

  • Cargo is damaged but not worthless, and leaving it to rot is the expensive option.
  • An insurer has paid or will pay, and the residual value belongs to them.
  • Customs or the port want the goods moved and a decision cannot wait.
  • The goods are perishable, hazardous, or accruing storage every day they sit.

What we do.

  • 01Assess what is genuinely recoverable. Sound, reconditionable, and fit only for disposal — quantified separately.
  • 02Establish a realistic salvage value. Against the local market, not a theoretical one.
  • 03Advise on the disposal route. Reconditioning, restricted sale, tender, or destruction — with the reasons.
  • 04Run or supervise the sale. Where instructed, including tender handling and buyer verification.
  • 05Record the destruction. Where destruction is the answer, it is witnessed and certified, not assumed.

What you receive.

  • A salvage assessment with a realistic residual value.
  • A recommended disposal route and its expected net return.
  • Tender or sale documentation where a sale is run.
  • A destruction certificate where goods are destroyed.

What we need from you

  • The survey report establishing the damage
  • Where the goods are, and the daily cost of leaving them there
  • Any customs, sanitary or hazardous restrictions
  • Whether the brand owner permits restricted sale

What we hold ourselves to

  • 2–24hA surveyor instructed from the network nearest the cargo.
  • 24–48hYour update on the appraisal, with photographs and the key information.
  • 72hThe detailed preliminary report, after the survey assessment.
  • 45 daysExpected turnover per mission. The final report follows the loss mitigation or destruction operation.

Attendance on site depends on distance to the port and on terminal and customs access, so that is confirmed on your file rather than promised as one number for every port on the continent.
