Claims consulting — cargo

Guidance through the claims process for insured and uninsured parties alike. Service 13 — After the loss.

When you instruct one.

  • You have a loss and no idea whether it is a claim, or against whom.
  • You are uninsured, and the only route is a recourse against the party at fault.
  • A claim has been declined and you want to know whether the decline is sound.
  • Time bars are approaching and nobody has told you what they are.

What we do.

  • 01Establish what actually happened. Before advising on a claim, being clear about the loss.
  • 02Identify who might be liable. Carrier, forwarder, terminal, warehouse, or nobody — said plainly either way.
  • 03Check the time bars. The one thing that cannot be recovered once lost. Named, with dates.
  • 04Read the policy, where there is one. Cover, exclusions, warranties, deductible, and what the insurer will ask for.
  • 05Say whether it is worth pursuing. Including when the honest answer is that it is not.

What you receive.

  • A written view on whether a claim or a recourse exists.
  • The applicable time bars, with the dates they fall.
  • A list of what to secure now, before it is lost.
  • A recommended next step, and an estimate of what it costs to take.

What we need from you

  • What happened, in your own words
  • The shipping documents you hold
  • The policy or certificate, if you are insured
  • Any correspondence already exchanged

What we hold ourselves to

  • 2–24hA surveyor instructed from the network nearest the cargo.
  • 24–48hYour update on the appraisal, with photographs and the key information.
  • 72hThe detailed preliminary report, after the survey assessment.
  • 45 daysExpected turnover per mission. The final report follows the loss mitigation or destruction operation.

Attendance on site depends on distance to the port and on terminal and customs access, so that is confirmed on your file rather than promised as one number for every port on the continent.
