When you instruct one.
- The cargo is project, heavy-lift or out-of-gauge and stowage is the whole risk.
- The charter or the policy requires supervision during loading.
- You expect the way it was loaded to be argued about later.
- The shipper and the carrier disagree about how it should be done.
What we do.
- 01Attend throughout the operation. Not a visit at the start and a photograph at the end: presence while the cargo goes on.
- 02Check the lifting and handling. Gear, slinging points, whether the method matches the cargo and the manufacturer's instruction.
- 03Record the stowage as built. Position, orientation, separation, and what sits on top of what.
- 04Verify the securing. Lashings, chains, welds, blocking. Tension checked rather than assumed.
- 05Report deviations while they can still be fixed. A finding delivered after the hatches close is a finding that came too late.
What you receive.
- A loading supervision report covering method, stowage and securing.
- A sequential photographic record of the operation.
- A record of any deviation raised at the time, and the response to it.
- Lashing and securing detail, for the file and for any later dispute.
What we need from you
- Stowage plan or lashing plan, where one exists
- Cargo dimensions, weights and lifting points
- Vessel, berth and expected loading window
- Whose instructions the stevedores are working to
What we hold ourselves to
- 2–24hA surveyor instructed from the network nearest the cargo.
- 24–48hYour update on the appraisal, with photographs and the key information.
- 72hThe detailed preliminary report, after the survey assessment.
- 45 daysExpected turnover per mission. The final report follows the loss mitigation or destruction operation.
Attendance on site depends on distance to the port and on terminal and customs access, so that is confirmed on your file rather than promised as one number for every port on the continent.
